This weekend was by far the most fun weekend! I finally met some people through Facebook and the internet, with whom I really had a very nice weekend in Tulum. Tulum is a small village about 2 hours away from Cancun. It is located on the beach and it is a very popular destination. This weekend there was La Independencia de México, so many people got the day off work. Me as well, so Friday we could leave early to Tulum.
Through the internet, I met someone who invited us to go with him and his friends. We decided we should meet before our trip, so we went to this club in downtown centre, Nebrina. We had some drinks and famous Mexican tequila. We cheered for the weekend and of course for the independence! Many people were dressed up as mariachi and there also was a lot of mariachi music.
The day after, I met Larissa, a girl I met here, at the YEK Gym. My friend picked us up by car to go for the drive. On our way, we met his other friends and together we went to this beautiful cenote. I had never seen a cenote before, so I was pretty excited. And it turned out to be so pretty! The water is very clear blue and you see lots of small fishes and animals in the water. It looks like a magic place.
Unfortunately I lost my sunglasses while jumping off the cliff, hahah. Too bad.

Further on, we drove to Tulum and stopped on our way for a ceviche! It is a typical Mexican dish with fish cooked in lemon. For more information, check the website as well because I made a post on typical Mexican dishes :).
When we arrived in Tulum, the boys dropped us off at our hostel, El Punto. It was really pretty with a little swimming pool and palmtrees and all, and the staff was really kind to lend us their beach cruisers. In the evening, we went to a restaurant/club in like the middle of nowhere. IT WAS GREAT! The music is so good and the vibe is amazing. Everyone is kind and friendly and interested in you and your story. Also the restaurant was very pretty because of all the lights hanging in the trees. It was like a little magical place.
After this incredible night, we went home to go for a sleep. We got up pretty early to have breakfast and pick up the other Dutch girls. Lisse and Theresia came as well to Tulum to join the full moon party later at Papaya Playa Project. We had a lovely afternoon with some lunch and drinks and we went to the beach as well, which is so pretty!!

After that we went for dinner at a restaurant close to our hostel. I took a vegetarian quesadilla. The food in Mexico is so good, but unfortunately I am not very used to the food here yet. I get this really 'full' feeling, so I am not able to eat a lot.
Andddd it was time to party! We went to the apartment of the boys, which was like a 5 min bike. They rented this Airbnb with a roof terrace, which was very very nice. Around 9 we went to Papaya Playa Project again for the full moon party. It was a crazy night and we had the most fun ever. We didn't get lots of sleep actually and the day after we wanted to explore the city centre as well.

Overall, Tulum is one of the best places I have ever been to. The vibes, the people, the city, the beaches, I love it! Definitely going back there a few times during my 5 months in Mexico!
