If you want to take a rest from the busy life in Cancún, you should definitely go to Isla Mujeres. This is the best place to relax and drink some Mojitos.

 

However, there are some places you have to see on this beautiful island. It is recommended to rent a golfcart (around 600 pesos for 1 day) or a motor cycle (around 250 pesos a day) to move yourself on the island. You should definitely go to the following places if you are on Isla Mujeres:

- Hacienda Mundaca: this is an ruin of an old mansion of a slave trader called Mandaca.

- Tortugranja: this is a turtle farm where you can visit sea turtles.

- Playa Norte: this is the best beach on Isla Mujeres.

- MUSA Underwater Museum: book a tour to visit the underwater museum

- Punta Sur: beautiful panoramic view over the water and Mexico.

How to get to Isla Mujeres?

Take the ferry at Puerto Juarez, this one is half as cheap as the ferry in the hotel zone. It only takes 25 minutes to get tot he island, and costs around 146 pesos roundtrip.

There are several busses that go from downtown Cancún or the Hotel Zone to the marine in Puerto Juarez.

Tip: make sure you only buy a one way ticket, and not a roundtrip, because then you don’t have to worry about losing the ticket back to Cancún. You can always buy a ticket back to Cancún if you want to leave.
