Most probably you want to call home from Mexico to let your beloved ones know how you are doing. When you do this, please keep in mind that the price you pay is very high (can take up to 6 euros per minute).

 

When you want to call to a Mexican phone number make sure you first dial +52 before the actual phone number, this is the country code. In some cases, if the +52 is not working you need to put another 1 before dialling the phone number you try to reach.

If you are planning to stay in Mexico for a longer time period you can always buy a SIM-card with prepaid options. The card will cost you around 10 – 15 euros (120-200 pesos) and then you will have a Mexican phone number. The most common place where you can buy a SIM in Cancun and in the area is TelCel, you can find this company anywhere.

 

Calling or texting to other Mexican phone numbers will cost you only 1 peso per minute or text and international phone calls or texts will cost 5 pesos per minute or text. You can upgrade the credit on your phone in almost every grocery or convenience shop. You have to say what your mobile phone provider and your phone number is and they will put the credit on it.
