When traveling to Mexico, you will need a valid passport. Make sure that your passport is at least 6 months more valid when you come to Mexico, to prevent troubles at the airport immigration.

You are not required to have a Visa when coming to Mexico, when you are a European Union citizen. However, make sure when traveling through the US you should have an ESTA Visa, even when you are only at the airport for 2 hours. You can buy an ESTA Visa for only 14 US Dollars, through the website of the homeland security, and it has to be paid with creditcard. The ESTA Visa is valid for 2 years.

In the flight to Mexico, you will have to fill in a landing card. This card will ask you for your address in Mexico, the duration of your stay, your reason for travel, your flightnumber and some more questions. Make sure you keep this card with you during your stay, because you will have to show it again when you leave.

You can not stay in Mexico for longer than 180 days (6 months).

If you want to stay longer than 180 days, you will have to go to the Mexican Embassy at your home country.
