Of course I had a jetlag and was fresh and awake at 5 o clock in the morning, I tried to get back to sleep but at 8 I decided to get out and take a shower. A cold one because this temperature is killing me, at home it was like minus 5 degrees and over here it is plus 28 or something. Anyhow, after this shower I was so hungry, but I didn’t have any Mexican Pesos yet, and also didn’t have any food because I arrived yesterday late in the evening. I decided to go look for an ATM and then the grocery store. It was quiet a long walk (15 minutes) but Lydia told me this is a very short walk because everyone does it. I was surprised that there were no bikes on the street what so ever, I was told that bikes were only for people that couldn’t afford a car but maybe I’m gonna buy one anyway, because these walks are killing me. When I finally arrived at the bank I tried to get money from the ATM, however, it did not work and after I had a little panic attack in myself I decided to get in line to ask about it at one of the counters. I waited to 30 minutes and when it was finally my turn the counter man did not speak any English, but I tried to explain myself in Spanish and he told me I could only get money from the ATM and not at the counter. A nice lady offered to help me with the ATM and I did not have to feel stupid because it really didn’t work. She offered me to borrow me some money but I was too scared to take it so I decided to try my card at the ATM in the grocery store. You have to understand, I had not eaten anything since my flight yesterday. So I figured if my card didn’t work over there I would die on my way back to my house of the hunger. But, it did work. I almost ran with my cash in the grocery store to get food. I wanted to get some sandwiches and a donut, and then I discovered this beautiful system in Cancun. They have like 10 or something isles with fresh sandwiches and pastries, you have to get a plate and put them on it and then other people will pack your choices for you. It was amazing because there was so much good stuff I was drooling. I got in line in front of a cashier to pay my groceries and when it was my turn I got a little annoyed by this guy who kept grabbing my groceries. I told him they were mine, but then I realised he was just packing my stuff for me in plastic bags. The only thing I was thinking was why is this poor guy packing my stuff, I can do that my own. I walked outside and there were carts everywhere, and one guy who also worked at the grocery store was clearing them up. I think this is very common over here, the only thing I did was getting my groceries in the store, the rest was all done by personnel, I almost felt a little lazy, but I was too hungry to feel lazy and grabbed my donut and wolfed it in my mouth.
