ST. PATRICK'S DAY AT PLAYA DEL CARMEN

Yesterday we had a day off. Because at the 21st of March it is ‘Natalicio de Benito Juarez’ and it is a common rule in Mexico that if there is an important day in the middle of the week, you have a day off on Mondays. Mexicans like long weekends, and who doesn’t? Anyways, Rocio, Lily and I went to Playa del Carmen, with Saulo, a friend of Rocio. We first took one of the minivan taxis close to the ADO bus station (which cost 30 pesos), to Playa del Carmen. When we arrived there, we walked to the beach. The amazingly beautiful beach. The waves were so high, almost 1,5 meters, the same height as Rocio. Sorry Rocio, but it was funny. We ate our tacos, filled with chicken and green salsa sauce and we drank our free beers, which we bought at the supermarket in Cancún. We got free beers if we bought one chicken, ofcourse we wanted the chicken and free beers! After the eating and swimming we got really tired and wanted too shower and eat something, so we walked to Señor frogs. There was nice life music and it sounded like a lot of fun. We took a shower and sat at one of the tables inside. When our drinks and pizza arrived, we figured out that is was St. Patricks day! I heard of it from my friends in England, but I didn’t know that the people in Mexico also celebrated this day. We danced, drank tequila and had a great time! When I finally got home I was so tired, after I took another shower I fell asleep right away. Thinking about how much I like Playa del Carmen, it is smaller than Cancún, but has a lot of bars and shops and the beautiful beach.
