Miquel is now on his way home, flying back to the Netherlands. It’s a sad moment, but now I have time to write about our day at Crococunzoo, where we went yesterday. It was a bit difficult to get there, because you have to take a bus to playa del carmen and ask the driver to stop at Crococunzoo, or you can take a minivan taxi with Playa del Carmen or Playa Express on it. It’s both not expensive: bus 20 pesos for 2 persons, or 40 pesos for the minivan. Finally we got there, but to get to Crococunzoo we had to cross the highway, which gave us a mini heart attack. Running like crazy, but we survived! At the zoo we had to wait for the guide and the other tourists (2 american ladies and 1 dutch guy) and the tour began. We saw many crocodiles, the guide told us that there were like 200 crocodiles in the zoo! Other animals we have seen there were snakes, from small to very big, iguanas, holy Mayan dogs, turtles in different sizes, apes, parrots and a lot of mosquitoes. Make sure you wear long trousers if you are ever planning to go to Crococunzoo. Miquel was constantly slapping them off his legs. But it was amazing, I was able to hold a parrot, a little crocodile and a snake! Since I have a big fear of snakes since I saw ‘Snakes on a plane’ it was so scary, but I’m glad I did it. We made a lot of photos, mostly from the apes. We gave them food, which we bought at the entrance. They seemed very hungry because they were almost fighting for their food, especially the mother ape with her child. It was beautiful to see.
