BIRTHDAY TIME AND WORLDWONDERS

On the 6th of March, last thursday, it was Miquel’s 22nd Birthday. That is why I planned to do something nice for that day. About a month ago I buyed a tour to Chichen Itza and one of the many cenotes. I wanted it to be a surprise but since I am not good at surprises, Miquel already knew that his Bday would be spend at Chichen Itza a long time ago. At 7 o’clock the bus would pick us up at Oasis Smart Hotel, downtown. Than the bus drove through the Hotel Zone to pick up the rest of te people. It was such a long drive! We stopped twice for a toiletbreak and once for an ‘all you can eat’ buffet. The buffet was not very special but it was food. The dancers made it kind of more special, they were dancing with a bottle on their head, which seemed really difficult. Finally we arrived at Chichen Itza. The tour guide told us so many things about the ruines and what they mean and a lot more, too much to remember. But is was amazing! The only bad thing is that there were a lot of souvenir sellers, and they were all yelling and talking to you, trying to sell you something. We bought a Mayan calendar and a figurine of the God of Love. After the two hour visit to Chichen Itza, we drove back to Cancun. On the way we would pass a cenote where it was possible to swim and relax. The cenote was beautiful, it has stalactites and stalacmites and the water was so bright, you could see all the fishes. The water was cold though, but as the myth said: “The water makes you 10 years younger”, I definitely wanted to try it. It was cold but really nice. Miquel only went till his legs, so he may be 5 years younger now. We only were allowed to stay at the cenote for 40 minutes, so after that we all went back in the bus and continued our long drive back home. This ride luckily seemed less longer, because everyone slept.
