CENOTE 'IK KIL'

EL REY RUINS

If you think Chichén Itzá is too far away from your safe and sound hotel zone, than El Rey Ruins is another place where you can visit ruins and get to know something about the history of Yucatan. For El Rey Ruins you don’t have to travel for hours, because it is right in the middle of the hotel zone. Although these ruins are not as impressive as Chichén Itzá it is definitely worth going here. One of the reasons this place is so special is because there are hundreds of iguanas here, which don’t mind al the tourists in their territory.

The Ruinas El Rey are located in the hotel zone at about 18 km of the hotel zone. The entrance fee is only 45 pesos (€3.50). The ruins are open between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Right across the street of these ruins is the most beautiful beach called Playa Delfines. This beach is one of the most popular beaches where you find the very colourful CANCUN sign. Playa Delfines is always very peaceful and never over crowded. By the way: if you intend to take a picture with the sign, bring some time and patience: people line up for it!
